Always so sweet to me when we worked Walmart …fly high angel girl ..you have gained your reward …God is good !!!

I had the honor of working with Sophie from 1996 way into my Blockbuster years.
  I loved to make her laugh and I can still hear her voice today. She was always such a big support to me and helped shape part of who I am ,today, in my work life. 
 I will always look back on my 15 year career, there, with gratitude and joy because of special people like Sophie.
 PS- I remember a time she got so mad at Tommy that she chewed him out while i had my  upper body in the ice cream cooler, digging out expires. I was   too afraid to raise my head out of it for fear her voice tone would catch my head on fire! :)

Sophie was my friend and a second mother to my son. But sometimes I referred to Sophie as Tommy’s “other wife” because she had to put up with him as much as I did. My favorite memory of Sophie is nothing short of a miracle. Sophie and I were unloading boxes from the back of my van when we noticed that it was beginning to roll forward. Inside was my young son,Blake, who had somehow managed to get the vehicle out of park. You have to understand that Sophie considered Blake her child, too. As mothers we immediately adapted that superhuman strength that only mothers can have. Sophie and I were side-by-side holding onto the bumper of that slowly moving van as if there were someway we could keep it from rolling into traffic on Highway 231. When I looked at Sophie it was as if there was a communication without words going on between us. While she remained at the rear of the van, I ran to the front in an attempt to stop it, as if that were possible. I could hear the traffic behind me as the van was slowly pushing me toward the highway. Then suddenly, the van stopped. I ran back to the rear of the van to see Sophie still holding on to the bumper as tight as she could. I climbed in the van, put it in park and grabbed my child. When I looked at Sophie she said, there are angels over there. And I said yes Sophie there are 10,000 angels over there. 
Blakes favorite memory of Sophie is riding with her in her white Jeep, listening to Shania Twain. And he still loves to listen to Shania Twain, to this day.

I do not even know how to start expressing how I felt about Sophie. Sophie and I first met in the early years of the video business. She quickly became one of our best customers. My brother, Randy, and I almost didn't hire Sophie to work for us because we knew that we would be losing a great customer. But because of her outgoing personality and her attention to detail, we did hire her, which turned out to be one of the best decisions we ever made. She later became the number one person in our organization. But more importantly, she became one of my best friends. And once you became Sophie's friend, you were always her friend. We spent over 15 years together, traveling thousands of miles, and it was some of the best years of my life. She allowed me to be a part of her family and was an essential part of mine. I will always consider Sophie my sister. I can't wait to see her again, in Heaven.

John 11:25-27 ESV...
[25] Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, [26] and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?" [27] She said to him, “Yes, Lord."

Sophie said yes to Jesus many years ago. My prayer for you today is that you will, also.


Sophie was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known.  She will be missed.  Y’all are in our prayers.
