Lulu E. Murdock

Lu was born in the Town of Milo on June 26th, 1927, the daughter of the late, William H. and Lulu (Reed) Stratton. Lu retired from her family farm as well as retiring from the Penn Yan Boat Co. She was also the site manager for the food program at the Penn Yan Grange. She was a member of the Penn Yan VFW Aux., the American Legion Aux., the Penn Yan Women of the Moose, and the Benton United Methodist Church. Lu loved her visits to the Adirondacks and kayaking.

Lu is survived by her loving children, Donald (Jean) Murdock of Woodgate, NY, Mary Ellen (Larry) Allen of Penn Yan and Robert (Jeanne) Murdock of Penn Yan; grandchildren, Julie (Frank) Voak, Chris (Cindy Newcomb) Murdock and Nick (Shelly) Murdock; great grandchildren, Alex and Aaron Voak, Madisyn and Molly Murdock. In addition to her parents, Lu was predeceased by her son, Myron Edward Murdock; grandson, Shawn Murdock; sister, Wilma Hayes; and brother, William H. Stratton Jr.

A gathering celebrating her life will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2016, from 1 to 2pm. Her memorial service will follow at 2pm at the Townsend Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Penn Yan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Keuka Comfort Care Home, PO Box 107, Penn Yan, NY 14527.
