
Margaret (Peg) Flynn, 96, passed away peacefully at her home on May 25, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.
Friends are invited to join the family to pray the Rosary on Saturday, May 28 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, Liberty Street, Penn Yan. Calling hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., also Saturday, May 28 at St. Michael’s Church with a funeral Mass immediately following at 12:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s School, Keuka Street, Penn Yan, NY 14527.
Margaret Louise Ansley was born November 20, 1919 on Ansley (later Emerson) Road in Italy Hill, NY to Charles and Anna Keighley Ansley. She graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1937 and married Howard Paul Flynn I on August 31, 1940. She was a devoted and loving wife and was adored by Howard until his death in 1986. Peg was a proud and nurturing mother and is survived by her six daughters: Sharan (Jim) Tette, Beverly (Terry) Finger, Paula Carruthers, Vivian Flynn, Judy (Artie) Bugsch and Winona Flynn; her 16 grandchildren: Mark Tette, Monica Marsh, Matt Tette, Michelle Fioritto, TD Finger, Andrea Myers, Samantha Elliott, Chrissy Laveck, Ericka Carruthers, Shawna Hoffman, Michael Johnston, Josh Jones, Seth Jones, Ansley Hill, Catherine Bugsch and Justin Rees; and her 24 great-grandchildren. She also loved, and is survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Peg was a communicant of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and attended daily Mass. She truly lived her faith and was good, kind and loving to all. She was generous with her time, prayers and gifts. To know Peg was to love her and to know you were loved by her.
Peg was a Eucharistic Minister to the home-bound, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Nocturnal Adoration Society, a founding member of the Monday Rosary for Peace and a founding member of the House of Concern. She was an avid gardener, a lifelong hiker and walker. She loved family gatherings, breakfast with the morning mass group and time spent with friends and neighbors.
In addition to Howard, she was preceded in death by her parents, her five older sisters: Edith Ansley, Beulah Rapalee, Juanita Lindstrom, Mary Paddock Scranton and Mabel Frank, and her two younger brothers: Clarence and Charles Ansley.
