Ryan William Halbert, 30. Ryan was born on April 29th, 1985. He is the son of William and Laurie Halbert of Keuka Park, NY. Ryan had just completed his second year at Rutgers University School of Law. He was working as an intern at the Camden, New Jersey, Public Defenders office. Ryan was a true renaissance man. He loved to study, to explore, to learn, and to experience life to the absolute fullest. He was a risk taker, an adventurer, and a devoted and loyal son, brother, grandson and friend. He will be remembered for his brilliant mind, his adventurous spirit, his sense of humor and his generous soul. Ryan loved the outdoors, he spent countless hours studying plants and trees, hunting and gathering and learning how to survive in the woods. One of his goals in life was to buy some land and live solely off of the earth. He embraced a simplistic and minimalist lifestyle. He enjoyed the simple things in life; good food, good conversation, storytelling, walks in the woods, and time with his family and friends. Ryan was a talented athlete, artist, musician, and craftsman. Once he took an interest in something, he worked at it until he mastered it.
Ryan will be sadly missed by his parents, his sisters; Brady and Kala Halbert, his best friend, Jesse Worden, his maternal grandparents, Frederick and Loretta Hopkins, his paternal grandparents; Andrew and Martha Halbert, his aunts and uncles; Lynne (Brian) Angell, Mark (Maura Chazin) Hopkins, Brent (Margot) Hopkins, Timothy (Michelle VerHalen) Hopkins, Ann Ahrens, Peggy(John) Ferran, Mary K (Tom) Day, and Robert (Theresa) Halbert, and dozens of wonderful cousins.
A service and celebration of Ryan’s life will be held at The Valley Inn, 2862 Guyanoga Road, Branchport, NY on Monday, June 22nd at 6pm.
In honor of Ryan's love for the outdoors, memorial donations can be made in his name to:
