Stanley Wheeler

Stanley Wheeler, 87, of Penn Yan, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Keuka Comfort Care Home.

Friends & family are invited to call at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, NY on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Stanley’s service will take place at the funeral home at 12:00pm. A graveside service to follow with military honors at St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Stanley was born on November 30, 1925 in Potter, NY to the late Lloyd & Naomi (Newby) Wheeler. He was a loving husband, father and good friend to many. Stan proudly served in the Marines Corp during WWII, driving amphibious tractor landing vehicles in key battle engagements in Peleliu and Okinawa and was an active member of the American Legion for more than 45 years as well as the VFW and Marine Corps League.

He is survived by his sons Steven, Michael and Randy; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Stan was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Rosemary E. Wheeler on November 30, 2012 and his daughter Cindy Chapman of Penn Yan, NY.
