Alex Gurnist Freeman, age 81, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022. Alex was born August 2, 1940 to Edith Quillan Pinkard and James G. Freeman in Russellville, Alabama. Alex is survived by his wife, Sara Joyce Freeman; daughters Laurie (Freeman) Cobb, Tana (Freeman) Rhom, Belinda Joyce Soto, and Gail Robin Jordon; Sons Tommy Freeman and Rick Richardson; 18 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren. Alex was preceded in death by his father James G. Freeman and mother Edith Quillan Pinkard; and sisters Meredith Jackson and Betty Cleveland and daughter Kimberly Gay Brown. Alex was married to his best friend and love of his life for 33 years as of September 2021. Alex loved his work, travelling, Alabama football, Atlanta Braves baseball, took pride in his yard work, loved singing and dancing. Alex was also in the United States Navy, a member and ex-president of the Warrington Elks Lodge and retired from Civil Service as an Electrical Aircraft Engineer. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife and family.
