Fred was an accomplished leader and earned the prestigious NEY award twice, once aboard the USS McKee at Point Loma, CA and while stationed at NAS Pensacola.

Fred was always learning and self taught himself to become an avid artist, ice sculptor, perfect bowler, and an accomplished crooner serenading many at weddings, special events and Karaoke. His favorite poem was “Be the Best of Whatever you are “ by Douglas Malloch. This was his life mantra….always do your best and that served him well throughout his life.
