Anita R BridgesAnita Bridges, 77, died peacefully on April 4, 2015 at Rosewood Manor Nursing Home in Pensacola, Florida. Anita was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Robert Bridges. She is survived by her 4 daughters: Maria Lauer (Kevin), Lisa Allen (Tom), Christie Poole (Russ), Lia Holder, 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.Anita was born in Bataan, Philippines in 1937. She graduated college there and went on to do secretarial work for Public Works, NAS Subic Bay. This is where she met and married her Navy/Civil Service career husband, Bob. They raised their family in the Philippines, California, and Guam until Bob was transferred to Pensacola in 1978 and retired soon after.Anita's passion for flowers and the piano were evident in her everyday life. She maintained beautiful gardens at her home, and made flower arrangements for the church's alters, family and friends. In her lifetime, she owned many pianos and organs and played daily for herself, Bob and others. She also loved playing cards with friends, going to the casino, eating seafood, parties having an occasional Pina Colada and shopping.Anita was raised a Catholic and had a strong faith in her religion. In the end she was unafraid to die, and was looking forward to seeing loved ones again and to be with the Lord in Heaven. She lived a big, full life, had more than what she needed, but, in the end, she chose to live simply and humbly. She spoke kindly and thankfully until her eyes closed for the last time.Her family would like to thank the CNAs and nurses at Rosewood Manor for their devotion and excellent care. Thank you to Covenant Hospice, who was dedicated to her comfort and dignity in her final months. Thank you to her many friends who visited, brought her gifts, cooked her Filipino food, and made her laugh.Rejoice! She is home.Family will receive friends Tuesday April 28th 5-7:00 pm with Funeral Service Wednesday April 29th at 9:30 am at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 10:15 am.
