

Barbara Ann English passed away peacefully in her home on October 12, 2024 age 86, born June 3, 1938. She was the beloved daughter of William Harold McCullough and Nelly Davis and beloved wife to the late Leon Tom English.
Barbara also known as “Bobbie, Aunt Bobbie, and Grandma”, was the secretary officer in Choctawhatchee High school for the Future Homemakers for America. She took that role very seriously! Right out of high school she used her financial skills that she needed to prepare organize and run a smooth operating family household. Barbara advance DCT bookkeeping student learn how to use a national bookkeeping machine to make entries on a ledger sheet as part of her training with Valparaiso State Bank. She was an accomplished seamstress and would “drop everything“ every day to make new clothes, mend ball uniforms, and create costumes. She would plan family meals ahead every week and try out new recipes to make sure her family had three square meals a day plus scrumptious desserts she was known for her homemade strawberry fig preserves, teriyaki beef jerky, and her friends and family would wait in anticipation for her “light as air“ pecan in the center white divinity at Christmas time. She was an avid bowler, a green thumb gardener, and she was incredibly involved with the community. She coached cheerleading, worked bake sales and helped organize events at Myrtle Grove Ballpark. When she advanced in years she loved to stroll with Tom at antique shops finding unique and unusual items like a marshmallow gun, or a special doll for the grandchildren.
She was predeceased by sisters Betty Ward , Jackie Edge and Susie Ward .
She’s survived by sister Lucy Freytag, sons Jo, Steve, Greg and daughter Karol, nephews and nieces Jeff, April, Casey, Camila (Gay), Preston, Ray, Dave and Scott, Grandkids Jack, Nate, Rachel, Christie, and Jennifer, 10 great great grandkids and 2 great great great grandkids.
Though Barbara may no longer be with us in body her spirit endures through her love, generosity, and time spent helping her family and others.
