Benjamin Bathurst, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle, was taken from us unexpectedly on Monday, September 30th, in Pensacola, FL. He was born on November 21, 1935 in Pensacola, FL, where he grew up and attended school. Benjamin served the city of Pensacola for over 30 years and 25 years as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army in which he retired from both.
Benjamin was a family man who had love and compassion for all people. Benjamin loved to bowl and was passionate about sports to include his beloved Tampa Rays baseball and New Orleans Saints football. He is best remembered by all he encountered as having a gentle soul, kind heart and an infectious smile. His kindness, generosity and loyalty to family and friends was well known to all. Above all else, Benjamin lead a life that was dedicated to family, who meant everything to him.
Benjamin is preceded in death by his wife, Dona Bathurst and his son, Timothy Bathurst. He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Kelley (Gary Kelley) and Darlene Bathurst, both from Pensacola; his sons Benjamin Bathurst from Pensacola,FL and Philip Bathurst from New Orleans, LA; grandchildren Chadd Kelley, Cara Kelley, Christian Bathurst, and Lil Gary; and great grandchildren Anthony Jr. and Adriauna Rutherford in addition to several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Oak Lawn Funeral Home from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, with a funeral service immediately following. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at Barrancas National Cemetery, where services will be officiated by Gary Kelley and full military honors will be rendered. Oak Lawn Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
