Elizabeth "Betsy" Sims 68 of Milton, FL died Monday June 17, 2013. Betsy was born to her proud Father John T. Cadenhead, and Mother Willie Mavis Cadenhead, on January 24, 1945 in Meridian, Mississippi where she grew up with her older Brother John David Cadenhead now of Virginia. At 19 the beautiful blond stole the hearts of a small Mississippi town as she won the crown of Ms. Hattiesburg. Then she proved her mental metal by earning her Associates Degree at William Carey College then her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Southern Mississippi both in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. While teaching Third Grade at Oakhurst Elementary in Milton, FL she met her Soulmate James M. Sims Sr. on a blind date. They were married in 1967 and loved each other for the 45 years she had left to give. Their love brought forth their Daughter, Kerrie Elizabeth Cela who now resides in Dayton, Ohio and their Son, James M. Sims Jr. of Milton, FL. Betsy earned her Master's of Elementary Education from the University of West Florida and taught at Jim Allen Elementary and Bagdad Elementary over a span of 27 years. She didn't stop teaching after she retired, instead, she took to teaching local children who had a tough time learning at school, giving them the gift of reading, never charging for her time. Four of her favorite students were her Grandsons from Dayton, Ohio, Anthony M. Cela and Dean A. Cela. And her Granddaughter, Trinity M. Sims and Grandson, Tyler Trey Sims both of Milton, FL. She is survived by all of these people she loved in her life except her Mother and Father who rejoice in their reunion with her now in Heaven.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday June 22, 2013 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with a reception to follow. Entombment will be held at Bayview Memorial Park.
