1939-2018
Billy Ray Richerson Sr., a man among men. A father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, provider and friend, lost his 3 ½-year battle with lung cancer . A man who came from a simple beginning, born April 28th,1939 in Repton,Alabama to Mollie and William Luke Richerson. Billy graduated from Tate High School and joined the United States Air Force. After returning home, he took a job with Greyhound Bus Lines for the next 24 years. Billy then took a job at Evergreen Transportation where he also put in another 20 years of service. Although his devotion to his wife of 52 years, Bette-Lou Richerson, son Billy Ray Richerson, Jr. and daughter Melissa Dawn Richerson (Edward) Miller, two grandchildren: Stephen Tyler Miller and Jessica Leah (Adam) Freeman; three great-grandchildren: Kyree Belle Freeman and Kimber Rae Freeman, was unmeasurable his heart belonged to his beautiful great-granddaughter Audrina Leah Miller (aka: pops doodle bug), as well as his future great-grandson Kane Vincent Freeman. Billy was preceded in death by his father, mother, two brothers: WL. Richerson and Albert Richerson, along with a sister, Evelyn Gillette, leaving two surviving sisters: Marie (Lester) Darbyshire and Pearl (George) Pape. Funeral services will be held at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens on Saturday August 25th, 2018. Family is asked to arrive prior to 10am, friends at 11:00 and services at 12:00. Military ceremonies will be graveside following services.
