Carl Blair Mock passed away on the evening of September 15th 2024 in Pensacola, Florida. Beloved and adored husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son, Carl lived a rich life filled with both travel and family, longing and celebration, loss and love. He was a great man who taught instead of punishing, listened and asked instead of preaching, and who made sure his family had a better life than he'd had.
Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan to a family of humble means, Carl met the woman he would spend the rest of his life with, Frances, in Battle Creek, Michigan at only 14 years old. A few years later, after joining the U.S. Navy, Carl would go AWOL for the one and only time in his life, to marry Frances as soon as he was old enough. Soon, this resulted in "three little Huckleberrys," Robert, Joseph and eventually, Ceejay.
Carl would go on to serve in the Navy for 20 years, specializing in Hydraulics and Electronic, then went on to work in Environmental Monitoring, before serving another 20 years in Civil Service in Telecommunications.
The son of Ardith and Robert Mock, Carl is survived by his brother, Charles (Mike) Mock, his wife, Frances Mock, and his sons Robert and Ceejay Mock. Carl's second eldest son, Joseph Mock passed in October of 2023. He is also survived by his three grandchildren Hannah, Holly, and Hayley Mock
Services will be held at Oaklawn Funeral Home (619 N. New Warrington Road,) on October 2nd at 1:00pm. If you plan to join the funeral procession, we should leave to head to the cemetery at 2:00pm and we will arrive at the graveside around 2:30pm.
