Carl R Olson, Sr (Dick, Dad, Grandpa and Pops) peacefully passed away at home in Milton, Florida on Monday March 22, at the age of 90. Born on July 13, 1930 in Evanston, IL to Herbert and Julia Olson. Carl graduated High School and attended a journeyman school and became one the best carpenters around. He was not just a carpenter but a “finishing Carpenter” whom was sought after for his skills.

Carl was preceded in death by his wife Morene of Milton, Florida; those left to cherish his memories are his children, Cheryl Lynn Olson of Milton, Florida, Rick ( Elaine) Olson of Pace, Florida and Brian K. Olson of Jacksonville, Florida; granddaughter, Amie Depue; grandsons, Ricky Olson, Cameron Bolin and Chris Odum; great grandchild, Jasmine Odum; his brother Herb preceded him, we still have his precious wife Sallie. Also, survived by much loved nephews and nieces, Linda Lightsey (Jim), Chuck (Cindy) Olson, both are his Godchildren; Pam Wilson, Sherrie Hanahan (John) and Stacy Beecroft (Wally) and many great nieces and nephews.

Carl leaves his legacy behind through his children and grandchildren. Carl was a deeply devoted Father, Grandfather and a close friend to many. There was nothing that he would not do for his children, family and friends throughout his life. He was so proud of his children.

Carl was a very special man and truly a “one of a kind” personality that would touch hearts and bring laughter everywhere he went. The jokes and pranks he was so known for, will continue to carry on in our family. We will always look back on just how funny he was! Our Mom and Dad were the glue that held everyone and everything together.

As kids, we knew Dad meant business when he said be ready to leave at 4am so we could be out on the water at sunrise. We, and our friends were always ready to oblige. He certainly gave those that went memories and stories for a lifetime.

Dad was honored to be a part of the First Baptist Boating Ministry. In addition, he loved working on and making props for the First Baptist Fort Lauderdale Christmas Pageant, where he served for many years. He used his life skills and creative abilities to always be a blessing to others. Being a part of these ministries changed his life and brought him to a saving knowledge of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Our Dad never asked for anything from us. All he wanted was our time. Thank you Dad, we love you and will always miss you! See you soon!

Special thanks to Our Caregivers Jenn, Melinda, Marc and Covenant Hospice. In particular, Cassandra his nurse, was his “sweetheart”. Their professionalism is above reproach. They brought love, understanding, compassion, happiness and laughter to what would have been a sad situation. Thanks also to Sunday, Barbara and Caleb for helping our family cope every step of the way. Gods’ Blessings to all of you.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday March 27, 2021 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic HWY 90, with Pastor Joey Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.

I remember Dick with a smile on his face and so much happiness to give. He was always busy around his home doing projects for his loving wife Kathryn Morene. We all called her Kathy. His children were his pride and joy and he loved doing things with them. Fishing in particular.
Rest In Peace dear cousin.
Our Sincere Sympathy to his loving family and friends.

At 16 years old I spent two weeks with the funniest man I knew at the time. We laughed all day at his great humor, building an addition on to our home in south Florida. I will always remember him for that. At Christmas, he was the life of the party at my aunts home. Love comes in all ways. Remember all the good. Love to you all.
