Carolyn Joye Handrahan

Carolyn was born September 21, 1940 in Sumter County, Alabama to James Doye Channell and Allie Kate Tymes Channell. She married Charles “Charlie” Francis Handrahan in 1961, they were married for 44 years until Charlie’s death in 2005.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Francis Handrahan; daughter, Jan Celeste Simmons and sister, Margaret “Margie” Shofner.

Survivors include her children, Patrick Shawn Handrahan, wife Carmen and Philip Shannon Handrahan, wife Lawana; son-in-law, John Simmons; siblings, David Channell (Cheryl) and Peggy Strayer (Dr. John Strayer); brother-in-law, Jerry Shofner; grandchildren, Ashleigh Tackett (Kevin), Jeremy Brown, Amanda Miller (James V), Patrick Shawn Handrahan, Jr. (Tina), Caitlan “Caiti” Handrahan (Amber), Dustin Handrahan (Alexandria), Brandon Spradley and Christopher Spradley; great grandchildren, Charleigh, Kaleb, Brooklynn, Cooper, Kolton, Easton, Cannon, Tristan, Joey, Maverick Jo, Ayden, Carter and Grayson; bonus family, Christian and Rachel Grissom and their children, Kenley and Nolan; Beth Burton and Nicci Brown; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2023 with services beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
