Charles R. Piatt, III, of Pensacola, FL, passed away at home on Monday, September 27, 2021, at the age of 70. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Bonnie (Hubbert) Piatt; his son, David Piatt, and his wife, Kelly, of Fishers, IN; his daughter, Lauren Jirak, and her husband, Greg, of Decatur, GA; his four grandchildren, Mason Piatt, Avery Piatt, Natalie Jirak, and Elizabeth Jirak; his sister, Mary Romanski, and her husband, Carl, of Danville, PA, and niece and nephews. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary (Nash) Piatt, and his brother, Michael Piatt.
Charlie was a proud native of Wilkes-Barre, PA and a devoted family man with a large personality and even larger heart. He was born October 12, 1950 and graduated from Wyoming Area High School and Susquehanna University. He cherished the lifelong friends that he made at Susquehanna University during his football and fraternity days and the friendships developed throughout his career in the logistics industry, particularly those friends at Landstar, where he retired as Region Vice President. Charlie took pride in demonstrating his grilling skills and enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and golden retrievers, drinking a bottle of red wine or coffee on his screened porch, and cracking a good joke.
At Charlie's request, there will be a private service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Waterfront Rescue Mission Pensacola.
