Cheryl Elizabeth Messier, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away peacefully at 10:27 AM on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). Her final moments were spent in hospice care, surrounded by family and love.
Those left behind to cherish her memories are her longtime partner Michael Thompson, her son Christopher and his wife Rialyn, daughter Cara, grandson Joshua, and her beloved dogs and chickens; all of whom brought her immense joy.
She was known for her selflessness, loving nature, and infectious laugh. Cheryl found happiness in gardening, cooking, cheering for the Green Bay Packers, and caring for her animals. Her warmth and spirit touched everyone she met, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
The family asks that Cheryl be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life, not the sadness of her passing. In that spirit, a Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 North New Warrington Road, Pensacola, Florida 32506 on Sunday, October 5th, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. with visitation taking place at 3:30 p.m. Cheryl favored dark and sapphire blue, the family encourages those attending to wear the colors in honor of her.
"Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts."
