Chet was born in Golden, Mississippi to Arnola Morgan Harrison and Charles Harrison. Chet graduated from University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana with a bachelor’s degree in Education. He retired from his civil service job for the Navy where he wrote training programs. Chet was a Master Mason - Member of Ferry Pass Masonic Lodge #348 (now Pensacola Lodge #42), Master Gardener of Florida, and worked with local 4-H on gardening.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Harrison and wife, Martha Harrison; mother, Arnola Harrison; father, Charles Harrison; and sister, Reba Harrison.
He is survived in life by his wife Oveida Blosch Harrison; daughter, Twila Day and husband Bill Day; son, Tod Harrison and wife Robin Harrison; step-sons, David Blosch, William Blosch and wife Connie; sisters, Clara Long, Margaret Alston, Edna Adams and husband Eddie, Lucy Hamm and husband Charles. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren: Harrison Campbell, Derick Harrison, Brendan Harrison, Katrina Day, Alexandra Day, Billy Day and wife Kim, and Jessica Davenport; and 7 great grandchildren; Kyler Davenport, Dominick Davenport, Makaylen Davenport, Payton Lynch, Brennleigh Lynch, Will Day, and Grace Day.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 21st. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm CST with services following at 3:00 pm at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. Interment will be at Bayview Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Chester Harrison to the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Fl.
