David Michael Gates

David Michael Gates, 69, of Pensacola, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 15, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at Select Specialty Hospital in Pensacola, FL. He was born to the late Robert Perry and Jane Marion (nee: Kelly) Gates on March 16, 1946 in Pensacola, FL. Serving honorably in the United States Army in Vietnam with the 39th Engineers Battalion and awarded four Bronze Stars. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles on Kenmore Road, Pensacola, He enjoyed dancing, riding his Goldwing trike, traveling, fishing, and socialization with friends. A special thank you to the staff and doctors of Baptist Hospital and Select Specialty hospital, the Lung Group and Renalus Center all of Pensacola. He is survived by his loving wife, June Gates; daughter, Buffy (Timmy) Lovejoy; two grandchildren, Amara (Jeff) and Eric (Dixie); two step-children, Kim (Joe) Cogelia and James Waldman; two step-grandchildren, Cali Waldman and Michael Cogelia; brother, Richard (Ina); sister, Sue Jowers and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Friday, June 19, 2015 from the hours of 6-8 PM at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home, 1985 West Nine Mile Road, Pensacola. A celebration of his life officiated by his nephew Ricky Gates on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:30 am with Patriot Riders honoring. Final Rest will follow to Whitmire Family Cemetery with bagpiper and U.S. Army honors.
