She enlisted in the Navy as a Cryptologic Technician (Communications) in September 1983. She served her country for 20 years while being stationed in London, England; Pensacola, FL; Guam; Pearl Harbor, HI; Key West, FL; Diego Garcia; and Naples, Italy. She honorably retired to Pensacola, FL in August 2003 and began her second career at Navy Federal Credit Union in 2005 where she was a dedicated Escrow Analysis Specialist for 18 years, retiring in 2023.
She was an avid league bowler, becoming the first woman to ever bowl a perfect 300 game at Avalon Bowling Alley. She was also an enthusiastic Washington Redskins and FSU Athletics fan, rooting for her teams regardless of win or loss. However, her favorite pastime was kicking her husband’s butt at the Golden Tee golf game.
She is preceded in death by her mom, Evelyn Rodgers.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years Rob, her children Shannon, Jess (Laura), Cassie (Brandon), and Crystal, and her grandchildren Gabriel and Sophia.
She was known for her unique sense of humor accompanied by her infectious full-bodied laugh at jokes that only she understood. She loved hosting game nights and parties to bring her friends and family together, the highlights being her corn hole prowess and her off-key karaoke. Most importantly, she was known for how big her heart was. She was an adopted mom and mentor to so many—if she fed you, you were family. She loved with words and with actions and no one doubted it for a second. Her family was blessed to have her as the foundation that they were built on.
The family would like to thank Dr. Alexander Brown and his team at Ascension Sacred Heart. They would also like to thank Angie, Tee, and the VITAS team for the care and compassion they showed Dee.
Family and friends are invited to attend a service at Eastern Gate Funeral Home on Friday April 24, 2026 at 2 P.M. Visitation with the family will begin at 1 P.M. Celebration of Life to follow at The Ticket 2 Sports Bar.
