Dennis Eugene Barrett

Dennis was born April 04, 1939 in Bournemouth, England to William Joseph Barrett and Elizabeth Allman Barrett. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961. Dennis attended Georgia State College, receiving his Bachelors of Science Degree in 1969 and then Georgia State University receiving his MBA in 1971. He was a member of the Sigma Pi Sigma Physics Honor Society at both Georgia State College and Georgia State University. He was an aeronautical engineer for civil service working at CWRA Pensacola Naval Complex for 36 years and 6 months. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling and was a beer enthusiast. He made a hole in one on January 28, 2008 with an eight iron from 131 yards away on Hole #6 at Marcus Pointe.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Joseph and Elizabeth Barrett; first wife, Carol Fontaine Barrett; second wife of 35+ years, Barbara Allison Wade Barrett and brother, William Barrett.

Surviving Dennis are his sons, Dennis Barrett, Jr. and William “Billy” Barrett; stepson, Gareth Wade; stepdaughters, Deborah Wade Sullivan and Linda Wade Brown; sister, Elizabeth Barrett; one grandchild; seven step grandchildren; three great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.

Dennis asked to be cremated and his ashes scattered in La Jolla Cove, California with his beloved Barbara. This was one of their favorite spots to visit. He will have a tree and marker at Bayview next to Barbara. His step-daughter's family hosted a social hour at Summer Vista Assisted Living Facility in his memory where they enjoyed cheese and crackers, Moscato and Miller Lite, Dennis's favorite.
