Marty was born on October 31, 1955. She devoted her life to serving others and often referred to herself as “Resident Servant” at her current ministry, Martha’s Vineyard of Pensacola. But, her love of serving others began long before moving to Florida. Marty was a respiratory therapist on the Transport Team for then- Kosair Children’s Hospital. The Transport Team were not just her co-workers– they were a segment of her family. She also served as a cardio cath tech and respiratory therapist at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. She touched many lives throughout her ministry and her legacy will forever be the impact she left on those she met. Marty loved the beach and was known for her sand sculptures. She could spend hours on the beach building sandcastles, sea turtles and so much more.
Dennis was born June 16, 1954. He was an attorney for 20+ years in New Albany, Indiana. He also pastored churches in Southern Indiana, and taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Pensacola. He loved to teach others about the word of God and how to apply it to their daily lives. Dennis was known for loving others and pouring that love into them. He had a passion for studying his family’s history, and loved Indiana University basketball especially during the Bobby Knight era. He rode with the Christian Motorcycle Association, and was very involved in the Kairos Ministry. He also recently worked at Bayview-Fisher-Pou Chapel and Bayview Memorial Park.
Together, Dennis and Marty served their community and those who came to stay at Martha’s Vineyard of Pensacola. During their service there, they cared for thousands of families during their time of need. They always looked for ways to share the love of Jesus with others. They loved their families and were known for adopting others into the family. Dennis and Marty loved big. They were members of, and served at, First Baptist Church of Pensacola. In Indiana, they were active in the DaySpring Emmaus Community. Marty was a previous Lay Director of an Emmaus Walk and Dennis served on the clergy teams for several walks.
