Dollie Lee Fowler

June 7, 2010. She is survived by her husband Joe Fowler, son Michael Fowler, granddaughters Jocelyn and Jillian Brittingham, three loving sisters-in-law (Bonnia Fowler, Pearlie Howell-Goforth, and Sharon Howell), and a host of nephews and nieces.

Dollie was born August 10, 1937, in the small town of Steele, which is nestled in the "Boot Heel" and cotton fields of the State of Missouri. Her parents were Felix Milton and Ruth "Elma" Wade Howell of Steele. She was the only daughter among three brothers: Milton, Tuck, and Tom Howell, who preceded her in death. She now joins them, along with her beloved daughter Jolivia (YaYa) Ann Fowler Brittingham, who passed away in 2001 and was deeply missed by her mother, father, brother, and all other family members.

Dollie was married to her childhood sweetheart Joe Fowler for over 55 years. They moved to Pensacola from Steele in 1955; the same year Jolivia was bom. Two years later, Dollie and Joe were blessed with a son, Michael Alan.

Dollie worked first at the Florida State Tax Office and, later, at Lakeview Center, where she worked for 42 years, never retiring. She was a longtime member of the Women of the Moose at Lodge 557, where she served in almost every position in the order. She was an active member of the Lawton Street Baptist Church. She loved her husband, son, daughter, other members of her very large family, innumerable fiends, coworkers, church family, and neighbors with all of her heart and when needed she was always there.

Her favorite pastime was playing the "slots," but, if there were bills to be paid, they came first. Throughout her life, she wrote poetry to mark a special occasion or friend and to express her feelings about those she loved. To please her husband and son, she would, on occasion, join them on a fishing trip. Dollie loved to laugh and her laughter will be one of our fondest memories.

She will be missed very much by many people, as well as her son's dog PEARL. But we know, without a doubt in any one's mind, she is in now heaven with her all loved ones.
