

Doris Katherine Morrison,81, of Pensacola, died Sunday evening May 1st, 2016 with her husband by her side, at Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Inpatient Residence. She was born May 2, 1934, in Danville, Virginia to James Daniel Owen and
Gladys Murphy (Owen) Hill.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and Step Father, William H. Hill, her brothers: William Irving Owen and Ray Murphy Owen, and her step-brothers: William H. Hill, Jr. and Robert L. Hill. She is survived by her husband George of 35 years, daughter Debra Bowman, of Pensacola, son David W. (Dena) Morrison, Colonel US Army of Honolulu, Hawaii and son A. Andrew (Christina) Morrison of Tallahassee. Additionally, she is survived by 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Doris graduated from Dan River, Virginia High school, class of 1954. Her first job was as a file clerk at the home office of GIECO Insurance company in Washington, D.C. As a Navy wife, she lived in Istanbul, Turkey, Puerto Rico and Guam. While in Turkey She was able to tour Israel, Egypt and Greece.
Doris loved sunsets, visiting with friends and neighbors, her dogs, and sharing her Lord Jesus with whosoever would.
A memorial service will be held at Bellview United Methodist Church on Monday May 9, 2016. Reverend Nancy Hammond and Reverend Byrd Mapoles will officiate. Visitation will begin at 10am, with the memorial service beginning at 11am. Graveside service will follow at 12:30 at Barrancas National Cemetery.
There will be a reception at the church fellowship hall after the service at Barrancas.
Pallbearers will be: David Morrison, Andrew Morrison, Hank Holland, Larry Brown, Mike Crounse, Ron Shelton, Sonny Thornton and John Wisor.
Honorary pallbearers are: George Harrison, Ed Bowen, Patton Nevels, Billy Mimms, J.W. Fuqua and Pete Dowling.
