

Dottie was born March 24, 1929 in a small town in West Virginia. Her father, Harve Parnell, was a coal miner and her mother, Sarah Lovell, was a housewife. Dottie was the middle child of 5 that included from eldest to youngest, Ethel (deceased), Mary (deceased), Joseph and Lewis (deceased).
She married Carl in 1952 and they moved to South Florida in 1953 where they bought their first house for $1,000.
Dottie’s only child was Timothy. She also helped raise Carl’s 4 children from his prior marriage, Carl Jr. (deceased), Ronald, Susan and Philip.
Dottie was involved in many different jobs and professions. She continued her education and became a kindergarten teacher. She also headed food handling at a high school and in later years worked in her husband’s business before retirement in 1982.
Dottie and Carl moved to Ocala in 1983 then to Pensacola in 1995. Carl passed away in 1996.
Dottie spent the last several years volunteering with the Senior Health Services at West Florida Hospital and at Cokesbury United Methodist Church. She was very active with the United Methodist Women (UMW).
Dottie never met a stranger and would never say no when someone asked for help with something. Her passions included cooking, church activities and her flower garden.
Funeral services will be Monday, November 26, 2018 at Cokesbury United Methodist Church with visitation from 10 to 11 AM, Service at 11 AM and graveside service at Bayview Memorial Park to follow.
