

Dorothy “Dot” M. Idoux Ward, age 89, entered into Heaven’s Gate in the early morning hours of June 1, 2017 at Archibald Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia with family at her bedside. She is predeceased in death by her husband of 46 years, A.T. “Snooky” Ward. She is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Corley (Paul), Theresa Tidwell (Dave), one grandson, Michael McKenzie, two granddaughters, Faith Wilson (Bryan) and Holly Ellison (Charlie), one great-granddaughter, Ashleigh Wilson, and a great-niece, Rita Rensing (John).
Dot was born on July 27, 1927 in Cahokia, Illinois and moved to Pensacola in the early 1950’s where she met and married her late husband, AT. Dot attended Warrington Presbyterian Church for over 46 years and was a Sunday school teacher, circle leader and member of the choir. She retired as a Payroll Clerk from the Pensacola Naval Air Station. She loved to crochet, quilt and make ceramics. She never met a stranger and always had a kind word for everyone. “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:3
The visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017 with the funeral to follow at 12:30 p.m. at Warrington Presbyterian Church, 406 S. Navy Boulevard, Pensacola, Florida, officiated by Pastor Jerry Robbins. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida.
The family requests monetary donations to either Warrington Presbyterian Church, 406 S. Navy Boulevard, Pensacola, Florida, 32507 or, to The Alzheimer’s Foundation, Pensacola Chapter, 223 W. Gregory Street, Pensacola, Florida 32502 in lieu of flowers. Oak Lawn Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
