

1920--2011
Edith L. (Lorraine) Farrell, 90, of Pensacola, FL, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 23, 2011. She died peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Lorraine was born in Tuscaloosa, AL, June 24, 1920 to Robert C. Parker and Martha Ellen Parker. She moved to Pensacola, FL, with her family at age five and resided there most of her life. She graduated from Pensacola High School in 1938 and attended the First Church of The Nazarene where her mother taught Sunday school for many years.
In 1940 she married Homer S. Mayo, M/Sgt. USMC and was a true and proud service wife despite many wartime separations. She loved children and was a foster mother for over 30 babies, sometimes two at a time, until they were adopted. She was the consummate wife and homemaker.
In 1973 she married Raymond G. Farrell, Major US Army, Retired. She enjoyed bicycle riding, bowling with the Fleet Reserve, being with friends and family, gardening and golfing. Lorraine had a flair for decorating and maintained a beautiful home. She was a life-long animal lover and leaves behind her two cats, Trouble and Lucky. Lorraine especially loved dancing with her husband. She
was a devout Christian and a member of the First Church of The Nazarene on Pine Forest Road.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert C. Parker, sister Louise Wilson, and first husband, Homer S. Mayo. She is survived by her devoted husband of over 37 years, Raymond G. Farrell, son Ronald Mayo (Alice) of St. Louis, MO, daughters Martha Kay Mayo Berard (Jonathan) of Tallassee, AL, and Jennifer Farrell Regan (John) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, foster son, Phillip Faulk (Cheryl) of Lawrenceburg, TN, grandchildren Barry Mayo, Robin Mayo, Lauren K. Berard, great grandchildren Madison Mayo and Estrello Mayo, nephews Robert Wilson, Wayne Parker (Sharon), Gary Parker, and nieces Betty Wilson Dubois (Ron) and Linda Parker Williams (Jack). She also leaves behind four step grandchildren, John P. Regan (Judy), Shawn M. Regan (Elizabeth), Colleen H. Regan, Kevin S. Regan and three step great grandchildren, Adrian,
Carmen, and Lily Regan. The family will receive friends at the Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New
Warrington Road, Pensacola from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 28, 2011. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, with Reverend Joe McNulty, Pastor, First Nazarene Church officiating. The service will be followed by interment at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS, Pensacola. The pallbearers will be Wayne Parker, Darren Cook, Jack Williams, Greg Collier, Vergy Duke and Thomas Maher.
The family would like to thank Dr. John Retzloff and staff for many years of personal care. A special thanks to Sharon Parker and Mary Toler for their compassionate care giving. We would also like to thank the staff of Emerald Coast Hospice, especially Chaplain Joe, Nadine, Rod, Iris and Darcy for their tender loving care and emotional support.
