Fern Kathleen Robertson Irwin

On January 28th Fern "Kathy" Irwin went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Irwin and her brother, Charles D Robertson of Homestead. Kathy was born on January 2, 1919 in Miami, Florida. She attended Florida State University on a 4H Scholarship. She met her husband, Lynn, in Homestead, Florida where he grew up with his brothers, Frank and Orval. Lynn was a Pastor and Kathy was active in the church. For the last 25 years she was a faithful attendee at First Baptist Church of Gulf Breeze, Florida. She remained steadfast in her faith until death.She taught in the Escambia County school system for almost 50 years. She was promoted to principal under the direction of Hellen Caro. Kathy affected the lives of countless students and parents with her love and care that extended far beyond the classroom or principal's office.She is survived by Frank's children, Michael Irwin and Paula Irwin now living in Gainesville, Florida. She is also survived by Orval's children, Ralph and Rodney, of Homestead, Florida. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff of The Watermark, formally The Villas, for their excellent care.Home-going services will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 11am at First Baptist Church of Gulf Breeze located 555 Fairpoint Drive in Gulf Breeze. There will be a gathering of friends at First Baptist prior to the service beginning at 10 am. Burial will be in Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens.
