Jeanette was born in Florala, Alabama on July 24, 1929. Her family relocated to Pensacola, Florida, where Jeanette attended school and graduated from Pensacola high school.
She married her only love, Francis “Buddy” Lewis on August 14, 1948, and set up housekeeping and birthing four children over six years. Must’ve been exhausting! She awoke her school-age children every morning to the sounds of Marty Robbins or the Strauss Waltzes. And she imparted wisdom to her children, whether it was having the The Talk, or telling her 12-year-old daughter that “daddy is helping himself” when she heard her daddy crying over the death of his mother and worried that he needed help. She became a grandmother at the age of 39!
Jeanette was the ultimate homemaker and excellent cook. Some of her lesser known joys, mother loved games, from ping-pong, pool and darts, to virtually any card game and most definitely word games. She instilled her love for words to her children. Try as they might, though, none can match her ability to do complex crossword puzzles in ink. She was a Scrabble master.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Leon P. and Rachel Snuggs, her nine siblings, and her spouse. She is survived by her grateful and loving family: daughters, Sharon Smith of Tennessee, Cindy Royal, Lisa Lemox, and her son, Michael Lewis all of Pensacola, Florida. She leaves behind her adored and adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren.
