1924 – 2011
Henry Brefka, age 86 of Pensacola, Florida passed away March 13, 2011.
He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Navy on the USS Lexington. He received his Wings in Pensacola in 1944 and later an Air Medal Gold Star. He was born in Syracuse, graduated from Colgate University in 1949 and worked for Johnson’s Wax for 35 years. He retired in Pensacola and enjoyed the good life playing golf and traveling.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Beverly Carbone.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Nancy Brefka; 4 daughters, Cheryl Weir, Pamela Brefka, Suzanne Chambers and Kathleen Brefka; 5 grandchildren, Samantha Fowler, Sawyer Weir, John Henry Fowler, Collin Weir and Kristin Weir; a great granddaughter, Aryauna; his sister, Mary Brefka and brother, Paul Brefka.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 21, 2011 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 19 North Palafox Street, with the Rev. Father Peter A. McLaughlin officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 10075 Hillview Road, Pensacola, FL 32514 or an organization of your choice.
The family will receive friends after the Mass at the Brefka home.
