

Hank passed away June 21, 2024 at the age of 80. He considered himself to be a responsible and attentive husband and father. With his devoted wife, Marie, he fathered two children, Lorie (Douglas) and Leighton (Christina). Hank and Marie’s grandchildren include Noah, and Christian; Caleb, Gabriel, and Christopher. Hank was greatly looking forward to the birth of his great granddaughter, Olive Elizabeth. A previous marriage of Hank had produced two children, Francis Paul and Deborah Ann. Grandchildren from them now include Jonathan, Joey, and Chris; Lee, Cody, and twins Brandon, and Christopher and 7 great grandchildren with one on the way.
Hank graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School in Pennsylvania, then joined the USMC at age 17 and attained the rank of Corporal. His Airfield Tactical Support work as a Marine took him to Iwakuni, Japan; Naha, Okinawa; and Bogue Field, North Carolina. He then joined the US Navy in 1966. Hank became a Navy Photographer and really saw the world. His assignments took him to many states in the US and around the world, including Alaska, Hawaii, Bermuda, Newfoundland, Puerto Rico and several stations in the Philippines. He taught at the Navy School of Photography in Pensacola, Florida before leaving the U.S Navy in 1986 with a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis.
Some of his proud accomplishments were his advancements in Toastmasters, earning a private pilot’s license, obtaining two graduate degrees in Counseling in Human Development & Public Speaking from Troy State University, and receiving the annual Volunteer of the year Award for NW Florida in 1984 for his work at the local office of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In his later years, Hank needed a wheelchair, but fought daily for fitness through a personalized exercise regime.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine, his sister, Mary his father, Henry, his brother Frank & his brother Larry.
A visitation for Henry will be held Monday, July 1, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL 32506. A mass of christian burial will occur Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Loretto, Chambers Avenue, Pensacola, FL 32508. A committal service will occur Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, FL 32508.
