Herbert LaMar Snow

1923 – 2012

Herbert LaMar Snow, 88, beloved brother, uncle and friend, passed away at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 in Pensacola, FL.

He was born on September 08, 1923 to the Rev. Herbert Franklin Snow and Irene Snow. A native of Pensacola, he graduated from Pensacola High School and went to work as a statistician on the Admiral’s staff at the Naval Air Station. At the end of his thirty years on the base, LaMar retired and served as a member of the support staff for Dignity Memorial funeral homes, bringing comfort to many families through his gift of music. He was an accomplished musician who delighted many with his prowess on the piano and the organ throughout his life. He blessed an untold number with his love of song as a church musician for over fifty years; he passed on this love to the generations that followed.

LaMar is survived by his sister, Jewel Snow Francis; one aunt, Ida Bernice Veazey; one nephew, missionary Ralph C. Francis and wife, Gayle; niece, Sharon E. Hayes and husband, Cleveland; niece Sara Lee Frier and husband, Jerry; niece, Myra Brown; niece, Renee Lea and husband Joe; and many great nephews, great nieces and cousins.

The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Covenant Hospice for their tender care of LaMar during his final three months. They tended him as faithfully as if he were family. Also, our sincerest thank you to Senior Home Care who came out and assisted LaMar.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 05, 2012 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with interment to follow at Bayview Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Brad Smith, Jimmy Jones, Scott Sowell, William Grinsted, Joe Godwin and Martin Posey.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 04, 2012 at the funeral home.
