

Dick was born in DesMoines, IA and also lived in Atlanta, St. Louis and Pensacola. He met and married his wife Shirley in Iowa and they just celebrated their 70th anniversary. He is survived by his wife, son Rick VerMehren &wife Patti of Gulf Breeze, daughter Pam and husband Larry Bumgarner and daughter Sandy Munce all from St. Louis, MO. He has five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. He was a family man and loved being with them.
When Dick and Shirley were younger, they were very talented roller skate dancers. They later took up ball room dancing and were exhibition dancers. They seemed to float across the dance floor.
Dick spent his entire adult life working in the envelope or related industries. He moved his own engineering company to Pensacola in 1991. He was industrious, disciplined, and very creative. He authored over 18 patents on his inventions. His machines created many jobs not only in the USA, but around the world as well. He was a generous man and belonged to Pensacola Beach Elks Lodge #497 for over 25 years.
Dick VerMehren will be greatly missed by his wife Shirley, his dog Tina, and his whole family and his friends.
Funeral services will be at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel at 3351 Scenic Hwy. on Sunday Feb. 5th. Viewing is between 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and service at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
