James J. Coldwell, 83, of Pensacola died peacefully on December 9, 2013 at his assisted living facility - Carpenters Creek in Pensacola.James was born in Nebraska in 1930. He graduated from High School in Albion Nebraska. He served honorably with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon returning from the war, he married Roberta Kelly in 1954, and later received a bachelor of science in electrical engineering degree from the University of Nebraska in 1958. Upon graduation from college, he joined the McDonnell Aircraft Corporation in St. Louis Missouri where he worked on the early Mercury and Gemini space capsule projects. He was preceeded in death by his wife of 50 years. He is survived by his three children, James R. Coldwell of Summerville, SC, Janice Coldwell of Holly Hill, SC, Kelly Dorsett of St. Louis, MO, and his two grandchildren, Ehren Shadrick of St. Louis, MO and Jacob Shadrick of Lawrence, KS.Family visitation will be at Bayview Fisher-Pou, Thursday December 12 from 5-7pm. A funeral will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 5200 Saufley Field Rd, Pensacola at 10:00 am Friday, December 13. He has been a member of the St. Anne's parish for about 14 years. Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
