Jimmy Cates, 76, passed away in Pensacola on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. He was born in Andalusia to Bonnie & Jim Cates, who preceded him in death. Mr. Cates retired as a chief petty officer following a 20-year career with the U.S. Navy. After his retirement, he moved to Pensacola and worked for Gulf Power Company until his retirement.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Patricia, one son, Quinten Cates, one daughter, Khelly Cates, a step-daughter, Pam McGeachy, one sister, Nancy “Carolyn” (Bruce) Maxwell, five grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
He was a long-time member of Brent Baptist Church.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, September 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., immediately followed by a service at 12:30 p.m.. The interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
