John Edward Holmes, Sr. 85, of Pensacola, FL passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born to the late William Herman and Llola (nee: Bice) Holmes on July 12, 1929 in Birmingham, Alabama.
Serving honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War, John transferred to U.S. Air Force and then retired in 1969.
He is survived by his loving children, sons, John Edward Holmes, Jr. and his wife Donna, Kevin Holmes, and William Holmes; daughter, Tara Holmes; 10 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 11:00 30 to 12:30 PM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola. Funeral Service will be at 12:30 PM burial will follow to Barrancas National Cemetery with full Air Force Honors at 1:15 PM
