John William Whisler

John was born April 1, 1935 in Manchester, Iowa. After graduating high school, he went on to Iowa State University where he majored in Chemistry. Continuing his education, he went on to George Washington University in Washington D.C. and earned a degree in Law while working at the Patent Office. Shortly after he accepted a job with Shell Corporation in San Francisco, CA where he met his future wife, Joanne Brownlee. They married in 1965 in Berkeley, CA, started their family and moved to Pensacola, FL. John had many hobbies that he excelled in such as; Golf, Pool, Duplicate Bridge and had a special interest in cars.

John was preceded in death by his father, John Nixon Whisler; mother, Lois Harmon Whisler; sister, Janet Whisler; and wife, Joanne Whisler.

He is survived by his sons, Jack (Jane) Whisler; Joe (Panayota) Whisler; grandchildren, Yianni and Zachary Whisler and Paige and Carly Whisler.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 09, 2023 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with Rev. Jim Bell officiating. Inurnment will follow.
