
Jack passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 24th at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born on June 22, 1932 in Syracuse, NY to Mary and Arthur Young. He is predeceased by his parents and brother William “Bill” Young.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Faye (Bell) Young; and his sons, John, Jr., Stephen and Douglas. His dear sisters and brothers, Mary Caye (Frank) LaForce and Peggy Young of Rochester, NY, Patrick Young of Rochester, NY and Jim (Gail) Young of Albany, NY. He also will be missed by his numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Jack is retired from the Air Force after 20+ years and started a new career in advertising. He began in advertising sales with Play Ground Daily News in Ft. Walton Beach, FL in 1973. Then in 1979 transferred to a weekly paper in Newark, NY, as the editor/manager. After about a year he then moved to Panama City News Herald as the Classified Ad Manager. He retired from there in the early 90’s. He finally found his “dream job” working at golf courses, namely Hombre and Holiday Golf in Panama City Beach, FL. After moving to Pensacola he worked at A.C. Reed and Lost Key, until his health no longer let him work or play golf.
The family would like to thank Dr. Humeda and all the hard working staff at Blue Angel Fresenius Dialysis Center, especially Vanessa and Deidre.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Monday, September 29th at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with the Rosary at 6pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 am, Tuesday, September 30th at Little Flower Catholic Church with Father Eugene Casserly as celebrant.
Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.
