We celebrate the life of Joe Gallo—a devoted husband, a proud veteran, and a beloved brother. Affectionately known as “GRIT” by his stepdaughter, Sherri Hutcheson, the nickname perfectly captured Joe’s resilient spirit, unwavering toughness, and his lifelong love of westerns.
Joe served his country with honor for twenty years in the United States Navy, followed by another twenty years of dedicated civil service. Tough as they come, he faced life head on and lived with an unwavering integrity.
Born in Ironwood Michigan, Joe is survived by his three loving sisters—Judith Makela, Patricia McCullough, and Joy Gallo—and six devoted brothers—Thomas, Roger, Michael, Jerry, Dean, and Jeffrey, and stepdaughters Debra Mckee and Sherri Hutcheson. Joe was preceded in death by his wife Helen; parents, John and Ellen (Haapala); siblings James, Johnny, and Kathleen; and children Dennis and Sharon.
