Joseph B. Meckler

Joseph Brent Meckler, born on August 1, 1944, passed away on January 18, 2026, at the age of 81. A resident of Pensacola, Florida, Joseph was a devoted and accomplished individual who left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Joseph graduated from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and pursued a distinguished career as a pediatric dentist. He was deeply committed to the well-being of the children he cared for in the Elyria, Westlake, and Albuquerque areas, finding great satisfaction in his work.

An avid golfer throughout his life, Joseph cherished his time on the golf course. He also had a passion for travel, particularly enjoying his visits to Italy with his beloved companion, Janie. His love for the country inspired him to learn Italian, and he became proficient in the basics of the language. Additionally, Joseph was a food enthusiast and appreciated a fine wine. Above all, he was a family man who treasured moments spent with his children and grandchildren.

Joseph was actively involved in his community, serving as a past president of the Elyria Country Club in Elyria, Ohio, and was a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Janie Passan Meckler; his sons, Brian (Kris) Meckler and Gary (Paige) Meckler; grandchildren, Sydney, Brendan, Cooper and Reese; along with a brother, Stephen (Bev) Meckler. Joseph is preceded in passing by his parents, Harold Meckler and Goldie Slaven Meckler.
