Joseph Rhett "Joe" McArthur

Joseph Rhett McArthur, 24, a resident of Pensacola, FL died Friday, December 26, 2014 from complications of pneumonia and severe cerebral palsy.

Born in Pensacola, Florida, Joey is the son of Kyle and Christie McArthur of Pace, Florida.

Joey was a keen example of a young man that took a village to raise. He was surrounded by incredible love and support throughout his family, and many people in Pensacola and surrounding communities touched his life as well. His Grandmother Sandra, his Aunt Kim, and his late Grandfather Morris “Buddy” Smith were huge parts of his life, and undoubtedly enhanced his life with many happy years beyond what the experts would have ever predicted.

No doubt, Joey also touched many lives. A smile from Joe is incredibly hard to forget. Joey never had it easy, but he still found pleasure in even life’s simplest moments. Mostly, Joey just loved just being surrounded by family and friends. The simplicity of their touch and voices would make him smile in even the most dire of the many challenges he faced.

Joey is survived by his mother and father, Christie and Kyle; his brother, Drew; his Sister-in-Law, Jordan; his cousins, Dusty, Jenna, Rose, Matthew, Lauren, and Olivia; his Aunts Kim, Adrianne, and Erica; his Uncle Corey; his Grandmothers, Sandra Smith and Julie McArthur; and many other extended family members.

Family and friends will be received at 1pm Tuesday, December 30, 2014 with memorial services beginning at 2pm at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel on Scenic Highway, Pensacola, FL.
