Born in Elberta, Alabama on April 03, 1934, Joe was the son of Joe Schoen, Sr. and Erna Schoen. Joe's life was marked by his dedication, hard work and service to others. As a young man, he bravely served his country during the Korean War, where he demonstrated unwavering courage and commitment to his fellow soldiers. After this time in the military, Joe transitioned to a rewarding career as an aviation technician, a field in which he honed his skills and became highly respected for his expertise. His work in aviation was a source of pride for him, and he often shared stories about his experiences. Joe's family was the cornerstone of his life. He will be remembered not only for his strong sense of duty and integrity but also for his kindness, generosity, and loving nature. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret, and is survived by his son, Gregg Schoen; his brother, Harold Schoen; his loving wife of 22 years, Ileana, and her children, Leslie Cuyuch (Adrian), Fred Reamsma (Sherri), Shelley Kearley (Phillip); 8 grandchildren, Heath, David, Stephen, James, Miranda, Nikte, Grayson, Lanie and 7 cherished great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will visit at 11:30 a.m. followed by a celebration of Joe's life and the indelible mark he left on all who knew him at 12:30 pm at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway. There will also be a committal service with military honors at Barrancas National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. The cortege will depart the funeral home at 1:15pm.
