Kay married her husband, Ben, on July 21, 1990. She met Ben while working for the State of Florida. He was in the U.S. Navy, and she was a government service worker for the Communication Center at NAS Pensacola. Ben received orders to Guantanamo, Cuba, where Kay worked in the Supply Department and was Secretary to the Officer in Charge. Ben retired in 1993, and they returned to Pensacola. Kay worked for the Operations Officer at Helicopter Training Squadron 8 in Milton, Florida. In 2000, Ben’s mother passed away and his father came to live with them. At that time, Kay selflessly left her career and became the primary caregiver for Ben’s dad. This allowed her plenty of time to focus on her true passion, gardening. She loved flowers and grew enough plants to make a small nursery. She also loved her cats. Above all, Kay enjoyed spending time with her family and making memories with them. Kay will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Kay is survived by her husband of 33 years, Ben; 2 sons, Jeff and Jason; 2 stepchildren, Alex and Leslie; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Kay will be held Monday, November 13, 2023, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL 32506. Following the funeral service will be an interment from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, FL 32508.
