Kenneth Elwood Rogers (Sam), 95, of Pensacola, Florida passed away while at home on Monday July 12, 2021. He was born in Biloxi, Mississippi on May 8, 1926 to Della Mae Colson Rogers and George Franklin Rogers Sr. Kenneth married his sweetheart and love of his life Betty Lou McAllister Rogers. They were married 73 years.
Kenneth was a good Military Navy family Man, he served in World War II and Korean War. He was a Proud American. Kenneth retired as a Navy Flight Instructor and Pilot. He loved to fly, he owned a Cessna 150 and a Taylorcraft Aircraft. Kenneth was also a Master Carpenter. He built several boats from scratch. He also loved his dogs.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents Della and George Rogers, his loving wife Betty Rogers, grand-daughter Melinda Rogers, sister Tressa Mae Rogers and 3 brothers George F Rogers Jr, Joseph “Joe” Rogers and James “Jimmie” Rogers.
He is survived by his 4 sons James “Jimmy” Rogers (Vonnie), George Rogers (Elaine), Kenny Rogers (Celeste) and Roger Rogers, sister Shirley Rogers Richard. Kenneth also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 16 great great-grandchildren to cherish his memory.
The family has entrusted Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home with arrangements. Visitation 11am-12pm Monday July 19, 2021, Services 12pm at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home, 1985 W. Nine Mile Rd, Pensacola, Florida 32534. Final Rest at Barrancas National Cemetery.
