

Margaret (Peggy) Anne De Luca, 73, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, November 05, 2024. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Harold and Mary Smith on September 18, 1951. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Mario De Luca, on December 26, 1970. They were married for 53 wonderful years.
She was a beloved mother to seven children. She is survived by sons: Mario De Luca, Salvatore De Luca, and Giovanni De Luca; daughters Angelina (Myers) De Luca, Lucianna (Allen) De Luca, Carmela (Faber) De Luca, Sophia (Daughtery) De Luca, daughters-in-law Tammie De Luca, Cindy (Grant) De Luca; son-in-laws Lito De Luca, James Myers, Charles Allen, Christoper Faber, and Patrick Daughtry; over 53 her years of marriage she and Mario were blessed with 20 grandchildren. Giovanni, Anthony, Mariano, Bastien, Braven, Celeste, Caleb, Alexa, Layla, Angelina, Giovanni, Arianna, Adrian, Angelisa, Christopher, Noah, Mason, Brigid, Patrick, and Patricia. Her sister, Teresa Jones, and brother, James Smith.
She dedicated her life to supporting her loving husband, raising her children, and doting on her grandchildren. She was also a military ombudsman stationed in San Diego, Can (1984-1987) for the USS Downes FF1070 and Philadelphia, PA (1988-1991) for the USS Clark FFG11. While in Philadelphia, she was the Ombudsman Chairman for the Naval Base and assisted multiple families while their spouses were on deployment. She was able to utilize her years as a military spouse to be the advocate needed for other military spouses. Peggy volunteered alongside her husband in the research library at the National Museum of Naval Aviation, and she has had a total of 20,000 volunteer hours since 1995. She was a Special Ed teacher assistant with Edgewater Elementary.
Peggy was social and made friends quickly. She would do anything to help her family and friends when in need. The joy and memories she has left with everyone who knew her will last a lifetime. She was a model wife and mother who loved her children and grandchildren. She was not just the example but set BAR for the meaning of Mother and Wife. Peggy was the De Luca family's rock, pillar, and matriarch. All generations will genuinely miss her. However, she will live on through her children and grandchildren, who all represent what an exemplary person she was.
A visitation for Margaret will be held Monday, November 11, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL 32506. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 303 S Navy Blvd, Pensacola, FL 32507. A committal service will occur Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Rd, Pensacola, FL 32508.
