She was born June 25, 1945, in Mobile, Alabama to Jeremiah "Jerry" Donoghue and Louise Potter Donoghue
Ruth had a wonderful childhood growing up in Mobile, Alabama, and in May 1968 she married her one forever love, Stephen Vincent Talbott, Sr.
While raising her family, Ruth worked as a real estate agent for many years. For several years in the 80's, she was an "early pioneer" in the gift basket business, owning her shop the "Piggy Basket Boutique" in Pensacola. She later enjoyed working as an antique/Haviland china dealer until her retirement. But one of her greatest joys during those years, and when so many life-long memories were made, was spending family summers with her husband and children and friends at their vacation house on Mobile Bay.
Ruth had a passion for cooking for family and friends and looked forward to decorating for each and every holiday. She was incredibly creative, and loved any excuse to entertain, host a party, or just celebrate. Her favorite time of the year was spent making Christmas candy, listening to holiday music, and wrapping the most beautiful and elaborate packages. She had an affection for pets, especially dogs, and for several years participated in craft shows with her pet-lover gifts and decor. She loved to start and end her days working in her yard and tending to her famously beautiful flowers. Ruth was always up for a good time, and she particularly loved to take short trips to nearby casinos. One of her favorite "jobs" was organizing and coordinating rummage sales, particularly the annual "Spring Fling" of her church. Ruth was the sweetest woman you could ever meet, and always had a twinkle in her eye and a smile for everyone. She truly lit up the room with genuine excitement and love.
Ruth is preceded in death by her father, Jerry Donoghue; mother, Louise Potter McKay; stepfather, Everett McKay; loving husband of 42 years, Stephen V. Talbott, Sr.; sister Anne Donoghue Darling; and her precious dogs, Maggie and Molly.
She is survived by her two sons, Stephen Talbott, Jr. and Jeremiah "JJ" Talbott; daughter-in-law Carrie Talbott and grandchildren, Morgan and Jeremy; siblings, Daniel (Sue) McKay, Debbie (Donald) Purvis, and Charles "Chuck" McKay, and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
The family will have visitation Monday, May 1 from 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Pensacola, Florida, followed by a Celebration of Mass at 12:00 p.m. Interment and committal service will take place at Bayview Fisher-Pou Cemetery immediately following the church Mass. Pallbearers will be Joshua Talbott, Timothy Talbott, Jeremy Boatner, Samuel McKay, David Martin and Anthony Vella.
