Mark Steven Boughton of Cantonment, Florida passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025 at the age of 70. He was born on February 25, 1955 in Wallingford, Connecticut where he grew up with seven siblings.
Mark attended Holy Trinity School and Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford, where he graduated in 1973.
He worked as a groundskeeper for Wallingford Public Schools until he retired in 2017.
Mark and his wife, Lori, moved to Cantonment, Florida in 2021 to share their retirement years with family in the surrounding area. Mark loved spending time with his family, friends, his Great Dane Jack, and he loved watching Alabama football and going to the beach.
Mark had a gentle, protective nature with everyone he loved. He was easy to be with, easy to love. He was thoughtful and kind, wanting to help everyone, friend or stranger. He was funny, and he was fun! He was loved deeply and will be greatly missed always.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Boughton and Doris (Rosa) Boughton, his brother Larry Boughton, and sisters Carol Bowes, Kathie Domingue, and Paula Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Boughton, brother Ernie (Ginger) Boughton, sisters Mary Doolittle and Christine (Scott) Brown, son Warren (Elisabetta) Boughton, step-daughter Jennifer (Matt) Giffin, step-son Chris (Bethany) Cassani, grandchildren Lauren Giffin, Brooklyn Giffin, and Theodore Boughton. He also leaves behind numerous other family members and friends who loved him dearly.
The family would like to thank the special nurses and doctors at Vitas Hospice at West Florida Hospital for their compassionate care they gave Mark in his final week. The family also thanks Dr. Owera, Dr. Rountree, their staff, and nurses in oncology and radiation at Woodlands Medical Center.
A celebration of life will be held at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel on October 18, 2025. Visitation is at 10:30, with the service following at 11:00.
