Mary Jane Pavilanis, age 101, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Tuesday August 6, 2019 peacefully at Haven of Our Lady of Peace. Mary was born January 13, 1918 in Princeton, IL to Edward Alfred Carter and Merle Prost.
She worked for Illinois Bell as an operator before she married Edward J. Pavilanis. Mary went on to be a seamstress for many years.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Alfred Carter and Merle Prost; husband, Edward J. Pavilanis; son, Craig M. Pavilanis; brothers, Lawrence Carter, Paul Carter, Eddie R. Carter, Ralph Carter; and sisters, Margaret Carter Brais, Frances Carter Lapinne.
She is survived by her daughter, Paulette Pavilanis Sanders; son Edward R. Pavilanis; Brothers, John Carter, William Carter; sisters, Constance Carter Fernandez, Theresa Carter Keilman; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Mary will be held Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at New Testament Fellowship Church, 812 North W Street, Pensacola, FL 32505. The funeral will begin at 11:30 AM. Burial will take place on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Barrancas National Cemetery.
