

Maxine “Betty” Gunter Guttmann, 90, of Pensacola, FL, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, May 27, 2021 with her son and daughter at her bedside. She was born on July 03, 1930 in Pensacola, FL, to Francis Oliver and Lillian Ola Gunter, the youngest child of five.
Maxine is a graduate of Pensacola High School Class of 1948. She was married to her late husband, John “Jack” Guttmann, for 70 years until his death in 2019. She was a homemaker and enjoyed canning and pickling and was quite the pea sheller! She also enjoyed working jigsaw and crossword puzzles.
Maxine is survived by her son, John Jr., and daughter, Susan, along with numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends of whom she was also known as “Mama G”.
Thank you from the family to her longtime doctor, Donald L. Blackmon, Jr. (MDVIP) and to the wonderful health care team at Covenant Care In-Home Hospice. Special thanks to her case managers, Annabell Hilliard, RN and Aimee Brown, RN, who provided excellent care for Maxine from late September 2020 until her passing.
As a devout Catholic, funeral services for Maxine will be held on Tuesday, June 01, 2021 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Cantonment, Florida, with visitation at 11:00 a.m., Rosary at 11:30 a.m.; and Mass of the Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) with the Reverend Father George Thekku, pastor, officiating. Entombment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park, Chapel of Peace Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Jude Thaddeus Building Fund, 303 Rocky Avenue, Cantonment, Florida 32533.
