

Our beloved mother, Melba Jean Lemox, from Pensacola, Florida, affectionately known as “Mema” to all, passed away at the remarkable age of 94 on Saturday, February 22nd. She was born in Gadsden, Alabama to Audie & Mary Katherine Mulkey.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, Sherry (Steve) Duncan from Dadeville, Alabama; Rebecca Sanders from McLean, Virginia; Peggy Means, from Houston, Texas; her son, Edward (Courtney) Lemox, III from Pensacola, Florida. Mema was blessed with 8 grandchildren, Sydney (Emma) Duncan; Natalie Peerson; Ashley (Charles) Zavala; Brett Lemox; Caitlin (Jonathan) Sanders; Chaney (Ben) Miller; Samantha (Jaclyn) Burgwald and Tyler Sanders, 12 great-grandchildren, dear friend Sabra Wilson, all of whom she adored and loved beyond measure. The family would like to thank Lynn White for her many years of kind and compassionate care.
Melba Jean is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 45 years, Edward Floyd Lemox, Jr., her sister, Louise Walters, 3 brothers Wesley Mulkey, Joe Mulkey, Jerrell Mulkey, and her great grandson Hayes Miller.
Mema, a cherished member of the Summer Vista community, found joy in the company of others. She was known for her vibrant personality, playful sense of humor, culinary skills, and passion for card games, especially bridge where she earned the title of ACBL Life Master.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her spirit, as bold and beautiful as the life she lived, will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held Monday March 3rd at the Bayview-Fisher Pou Chapel, located at 3351 Scenic Hwy, 90E, Pensacola, FL, 32503. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am with internment immediately after.
